Davtrend Limited was formed in 1980 by David Valentine who remains its Managing Director.

He joined The Plessey Company in 1972 and gained a wide experience of edge of technology electronics design. In 1975 he left Plessey and completed a post graduate course in Management Studies at Glasgow University. He returned to Plessey briefly before leaving to join Schlumberger Inc., in 1977 where he worked in the Middle East on a number of petrochemical projects. Keen to start his own business, David returned to Portsmouth and in 1980 Davtrend Limited was formed.
