An independent company, Davtrend Limited has
been successfully designing and manufacturing Custom Power Supplies
for over 25 years.
Located on the South Coast in Hampshire, Davtrend Limited have
occupied their present premises since 1988. Farlington is on the
outskirts of Portsmouth, and overlooks Portsea Island and the Solent.
Portsmouth is, of course, the home of Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard
which houses Nelson's Flagship HMS Victory, together with the first
ironclad warship HMS Warrior, and Henry VIII's favourite flagship
the Mary Rose. Most recently, Portsmouth was the focus of the Trafalgar
2005 celebrations, and in October saw the opening of the Spinnaker
Tower, at 170 metres high and situated at Gunwharf Quays, it gives
panoramic views over 23 miles on a clear day from it's three decks,
accessed by high speed lifts, at heights of 100, 105 and 110 metres!
Davtrend Limited was formed in 1980 by David Valentine who remains
it's Managing Director.
David, born and educated in Glasgow, graduated from it's University
in 1972 with a B.Sc. in Physics and an interest in electronics.
He joined The Plessey Company in 1972 and gained a wide experience
of edge of technology electronics design. In 1975 he left Plessey
and completed a post graduate course in Management Studies at Glasgow
University. He returned to Plessey briefly before leaving to join
Schlumberger Inc., in 1977 where he worked in the Middle East on
a number of petrochemical projects. Keen to start his own business,
David returned to Portsmouth and in 1980 Davtrend Limited was formed.
Throughout it's 25 years of trading, Davtrend Limited has established
itself as a market leader in power solutions. The business provides
it's customers with a total engineering solution with in-house design,
manufacturing and test. The company moved into it's present 5000
square feet premises in 1988, where approximately 22 staff are employed.
